Jharkhand/ Earlier they were labourers, now these women are making solar lights; got order of 20,000 lights from Tata

Ranchi: 15 women of Ormanjhi block have become an example for the country and the world. The women who once worked as labourers are making solar lights these days. These women, belonging to the Self Help Group, have made 2000 solar lights after receiving training at the Model Training Center in Ormanjhi.

Orders for supply of 30,000 solar lights have been received from two companies. Tata Steel Company has given an order for 20,000 solar lights. The MoU will be signed shortly in this regard. All this has been possible with the cooperation of the administration. The cost of making one light is around 95 rupees. The price in the market is 120 rupees. Women are also making transformers that are fitted in light. The LED bulb, solar plate, and the body are sourced from Hyderabad. Capacitors, transistors, and resistors have been brought from Kolkata and Delhi.

6 months guarantee, does not break, works under the water: This solar light does not break even when it falls from a height. It has also been made waterproof. According to trainer Shyam Prajapati, if a person goes with this light even in water, it will keep on working. There is also a six-month guarantee. The solar panel is mounted on the base plate of this light. It can be reversed and placed in a bottle for charging. One solar light is made in 45 minutes. Women get Rs 400 daily.
