Seems like, people are tired watching so many supernatural shows on Indian television screen. Wonder, why do we say this? Well, lot of recently launched shows including Divya Drishti, Nazar, Manmohini are not doing great on the TRP chart as expected by the channel. And adding more to it, serials like the makers of serial Vish Ya Amrit: Sitara and Daayan have been given an ultimatum to bring the numbers or else will be axed soon.
Apparently, this situation has made producer Ekta Kapoor little nervous for her upcoming project – Kavach 2 starring Deepika Singh and Namik Paul in the lead roles. If our sources are too believed, the producer has decided to keep Kavach; a finite series.
A close source informs, “Post Naagin 3, the channel (Colors) launched two more shows, Tantra and Vish Ya Amrit: Sitara with lot of expectations. However, both the shows failed to garner numbers on the TRP chart. Obviously, this is a big concern for them. Naagin is a big franchise and it did work in their favour. But looking at the audience response, the fact cannot be denied that the trend of supernatural shows is declining. This has led to the nervousness for both – channel and producer.”
Our source further added, “Since, Ekta Kapoor has already announced the project, she has decided to make it a finite series which will run for only three months (weekend show). The plan is at very initial stage. Since the show will be taking Naagin’s slot; you never know people might watch Kavach too. However, both the producer and the channel don’t want to take a risk.”
Kavach 2 will go on-air on 1st June 2019.
