Industrial plots allotted to undeserving people in Punjab, bungling to the tune of Rs 107 crore estimated

Chandigarh: A scam of about Rs 107 crore has come to the fore in the allotment of various industrial plots in the focal points of various cities of Punjab.

Some officials of commerce and industry department bypassed deserving industrialists and allotted plots to their relatives and favoured persons on the basis of forged documents. Few years later the plots were sold at market rates in collusion with some property dealers.

There was bungling worth crores in the transfer fee. The vigilance has completed the inquiry and submitted the report to the government.

The accused officials include general manager (personnel) Jaswinder Singh Randhawa, chief general manager (estate) SP Singh, estate officer Amarjit Singh Kahlo, senior assistant Vijay Gupta, consultant Darshan Garg, SDO Satvej Singh and some relatives of Jaswinder Singh. As many as 18 plots in Mohali and Amritsar were sold on the basis of forged documents.
