Indore: Sevadars blackmailed Bhaiyyu Maharaj, extorted money from him, says police challan

Indore: Azad Nagar city superintendent of police Surendra Singh Tomar filed 366-page challan in the court on Monday in Bhaiyyu Maharaj suicide case.

The challan makes a mention of blackmailing by sevadar Vinayak Dudhale, Palak Puranik and Sharad Deshmukh. They have been accused of abetting suicide, extortion and conspiring to grab the property.

The police questioned 125 people, recorded statements of 28 people and examined statements of 12 witnesses. It was proved that the trio had been conspiring against Maharaj for two years to grab his property.

When Bhaiyyu Maharaj was suffering from depression, Palak, Vinayak and Sharad used to give him high-dose medicines instead of usual medicines. Then they used to indulge in obscene chatting with him and thus trapped him.

Made him to write suicide note while under influence of drug

Sevadars had made Bhaiyyu Maharaj write a suicide note while he was under the influence of high-dose medicines.

Palak wanted to marry Maharaj, but he got married to Dr Ayushi. On the day of marriage, Palak had created ruckus and had given him June 16 deadline to marry her.

Bhaiyyu Maharaj continued to be harassed even after his marriage. Vinayak and Palak used to extort Rs 1.5 lakh every month from him. They had planned to capture his entire ashram property.

Bhaiyyu Maharaj, a popular spiritual leader who counted some of the country’s top politicians and celebrities among his followers, committed suicide on June 12 2018 by shooting himself in the head with his licensed revolver at his ashram in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.
