While today she might flaunt designer labels and brands, the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress Evelyn Sharma recalled how she used to wear second-hand clothes in her childhood. The actress, who hails from Germany, says that in India this concept doesn’t exist and thus it might sound extremely weird.
“My mom raised me on second hand clothing. In Germany, we have a huge second hand market where you get vintage clothes. We get beautiful, well-maintained old clothes for cheaper price. This concept is also good for the environment as we are recycling old clothes,” she said.
Evelyn says that she likes to shop second-hand clothes from various foreign markets like London, Sydney, Tokyo, Los Angeles, etc. When she arrived to India from Germany to venture into Bollywood, she was surprised that people here in India didn’t follow the concept.
Evelyn, who’s currently busy shooting for Saaho, mentioned that she has come up with her charity foundation through which she looks at garnering money for the needy through the same concept. “It’s called ‘Seams For Dreams’ where people donate their first hand, high-end clothing, which we put up for sale just like a garage sale and the money we make, we use it for charity,” she said.
In terms of work, apart from Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Saaho, Evelyn says that she has shot for an item song for a Bollywood film which will be unveiled very soon.
