Hyderabad encounter/ Jaya Bachchan said – Better late than never; Arvind Kejriwal said- People losing faith in judicial system

All four accused of rape-cum-murder of a veterinary doctor were killed by the police in an encounter on Friday. This was followed by reactions from many people, including film artists, politicians on social media.

BJP MP Maneka Gandhi said, “Whatever has happened has been very terrible for the country. You can’t kill people just because you want to. You cannot take the law into your own hands. They (the accused) should have been hanged after hearing in the court.”

People losing trust in judicial system, says Kejriwal: Kejriwal said, “The country is very angry. There is joy in the country after the encounter, but it is a matter of concern. People are losing faith in the police and the criminal justice system. We have to take cognizance of how to fix the criminal justice system. As soon as the file of mercy petition came to us in the Nirbhaya case, we rejected it and proceeded immediately. I hope that the President rejects the mercy petition and all the culprits are hanged soon.”

Actor Nagarjuna tweeted, “My morning started with this news. Justice is done.” At the same time, actress Rakulpreet Singh thanked the Telangana police, writing, “You cannot run far after committing a crime like rape.”

Action should not be taken against policemen, says Nirbhaya’s mother: Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi said, “I am very happy with this punishment. The police have done a good job. There should be no action against these policemen. I appeal to the judicial system and government of the country that even the criminals of Nirbhaya should be hanged at the earliest. ”

Two policemen were also injured in the encounter: The police had taken the accused to the underbridge where they burnt the doctor with kerosene. During interrogation and recreating the incident, the accused started fleeing. After this, the police had to fire. All four died in it. Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said that the four accused were killed in an encounter at Chatanapalli in Shadnagar between 3 am and 6 am on Friday. A senior police officer said that two policemen were also injured in the incident.

Mayawati commends Hyderabad police, slams Yogi govt in UP: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati commended Hyderabad Police and also slammed the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh for not doing enough for the safety of women in the state.
