Kota: Vinod Kalan, a small village in the town of Sangod in Rajasthan’s Kota district, is in the spotlight today due to its martyred son Hemraj Meena. Hemraj was martyred in the terror attack in Pulwama. Hemraj’s family and the residents of his village are proud of his martyrdom. On Friday, the body of Hemraj could not reach the village due to bad weather in Srinagar. The body reached Kota on Saturday morning and taken to village Vinod Kalan.
Govt should give befitting reply to Pak, says martyar’s father
Hemraj’s 70-year-old father Hardayal Meena said, “How long shall we continue to bear the terrorist attacks? How long will our soldiers be martyred? The government should give Pakistan a befitting reply. Only then will our wounds heal.”
Large number of people, including MPs, MLAs and others reached Vinod Kalan to pay their tributes to the martyred soldier.
Wife becomes ill
Hemraj is survived by his wife Madhubala and four children. After receiving information about her husband’s martyrdom, wife Madhubala’s condition worsened. She said, “Political leaders can do nothing.” She asked former MLA Hiralal Nagar who would look after her children. Only 18 months were left to the retirement of her husband.
Family demands assistance
Martyr’s elder brother Ram Vilas Meena demanded the state government to declare the economic package on the lines of Madhya Pradesh government for financial support of the children. He said the martyr’s wife has studied up to 10th standard. The elder daughter Reena is BA first year student. He demanded jobs for both of them, allotment of petrol pump to son and 20 bigha agricultural land.
‘Used to talk about the bravery of soldiers’
Hemraj’s close friend Giriraj Meena shared memories of his childhood with Hemraj. He said Hemraj wanted to join Army and serve the nation since he was a child. He always used to talk about the bravery of the soldiers. Giriraj said they studied together till class 8.
Hemraj had promised to return in 20 days
Hemraj’s father Hardayal has three sons. Hemraj was second among them. Hemraj Meena has two sons and two daughters. The elder daughter Reena is 18-year-old, Tina is 14, sons Ajay and Rishabh are 12 and 4 respectively. Hemraj Meena went on duty only on Tuesday. He promised to return after 20 days.
‘I am proud of my father’
Son Ajay said that he was proud of his father’s martyrdom. In this hour of grave loss, Hemraj’s elder daughter Reena showed exemplary courage and consoled her grieving family.
