Homosexuality is like someone having six fingers: says BJP MP Subramanian Swamy

New Delhi: In a landmark verdict on Thursday the Supreme Court ruled that consensual adult gay sex is not a crime and people cannot alter their sexual orientation.

While a majority of the nation welcomed the judgement, there are still some who do not want to accept homosexuality.

BJP MP Subramanian Swamy said homosexuality is a genetic disorder, “like someone having six fingers”, and also said that medical research must be conducted to treat the disease.

UP Shia Central Waqf Board chief Wasim Rizvi claimed that the SC’s verdict of decriminalising homosexuality will tarnish the Indian culture.

A twitter user shared this tweet where he called homosexuals mentally sick people:

The Deobandi Ulemas have refused to accept the Supreme Court’s ruling as it violates the Islamic Sharia laws.

Deobandhi Ulema Mufti Assad Qasmi said, “The decision of the Supreme Court that boys can have relationships among themselves is haram. It is not justified in the Shariat at all. According to the Sharia, Allah has created a woman for the man to have relations with so that they can procreate future generations. Two men in a relationship cannot procreate. So, this is the Supreme Court’s opinion and we do not believe in it.”

He also added that the Sharia deems homosexuality as haram and illegal saying, “No person in their right mind will tolerate this because it is not allowed at all in Islam.”

Twitterati attacked those who called homosexuality unnatural, disease or a crime brutally on Friday:
