New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday flagged off the Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express from the New Delhi Railway Station and said it was a “big gift” for Jammu and Kashmir’s development.
“Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express is a big gift for Jammu and Kashmir’s development and for promoting religious tourism,” said Shah, who was accompanied by Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Ministers Dr Jitendra Singh and Dr Harsh Vardhan.
Train number 22439 New Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express will depart from the New Delhi Railway Station at 6 am to reach Katra at 2 pm. En route, the train will halt at Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana and Jammu Tawi for two minutes each.
On the return journey the same day, train number 22440 Katra-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express will leave from the Katra Railway Station at 3 pm to reach the New Delhi Railway Station at 11 pm.

“Railways will connect country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari before 15th August, 2022,” said Railway Minister Piyush Goyal. Shah also said that, “Railways should document its relationship with Mahatma Gandhi as it forms a significant episode in the freedom struggle.”.
Train designed like a bullet train: This is the second Vande Bharat Express, the first runs between Delhi and Varanasi. The entire train is air-conditioned (AC) and is designed like a bullet train.
16 coaches in Vande Bharat Express: The Vande Bharat Express has 16 coaches. It has 14 coaches (936 seats) of general chair cars and two executive chair cars (104 seats). From New Delhi to Katra, the normal chair car fare is Rs 1600 and the executive chair car fare is Rs 3000.
Train-18 was renamed as Vande Bharat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Swadeshi Train-18 from New Delhi to Varanasi on February 15 this year, which was renamed as Vande Bharat Express. The maximum speed of the Vande Bharat Express is 160 kilometers per hour, which is the fastest speed on the Indian rail network. Vande Bharat train has features like a plane. There are facilities such as AC, TV, automatic doors, high-class pantry, and luxury washroom.
