Here’s how Simmba’s ‘Aankh Marey’ is different from the ’90s version

The song also features a cameo of Rohit Shetty's 'Golmaal' gang.

The first song from Simmba was released on Thursday by T-Series and the fun track is picturised on the lead actors Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan.

The song also features a cameo of Rohit Shetty’s favourites Arshad Warsi (who was in the original song), Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu. And the producer himself — Karan Johar.

Sung by Mika Singh and Neha Kakkar, Simmba’s Aankh Marey is rather slow on beats as compared to the energetic original version. Rohit Shetty fans will rejoice the song graced with the presence of the Golmaal gang. But the icing on the cake is to watch Arshad Warsi dancing and lipsyncing to Kumar Sanu’s voice (He sang the original 1996 version).

Here’s the original version of the song by Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamurthy from the 1996 movie Tere Mere Sapne. The film had Chandrachur Singh, Arshad Warsi, Priya Gill and Simran in lead roles, and was loosely based on Mark Twain’s ‘The Prince and the Pauper’.

Directed by Rohit Shettty, Simmba is set to hit theatres on December 28.
