London: The photo of a British teenage girl hugging her boyfriend goodbye before his life support was turned off went viral on the Internet recently, reports showed on Wednesday. Stephanie Ray, 15, a girl from Dudley in England, had to bid farewell to her boyfriend Blake Ward, 16, who was swept out to sea last week.
Blake was one of the three teenagers rescued last Tuesday from the waters in Tywyn, Gwynedd in northwest Wales after being swept out by currents during a family trip.
He was flown to a hospital in Liverpool and placed on life support. He died five days later. As a final goodbye, she climbed onto his hospital bed and lay down next to him as he passed away.
Stephanie posted a picture and a heartbreaking tribute on Facebook shortly after she said her final goodbye.
Stephanie wrote on Facebook, “Some of you may know Blake was involved in a terrible accident recently. I have been by his side through it all and I haven’t left him. We were told that he would never recover and his brain was to damaged and we had to make the hard decision of turning his machine off and let him go.”
$6,697 Funds for farewell
Stephanie and Blake’s family are raising money for Blake’s farewell, with a ‘GoFundMe’ that has raised more than $6,697 so far. As per reports, the condition of the other two youths pulled out of the water is not known.
I’m gonna make you proud
