Haryana: Pink polling booths in Rewari to send out message of women empowerment

Rewari: Pink polling booths will be set up for the first time in Rewari in Haryana during forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. From supervisor to duty magistrate, only female staff would be deployed at these booths. At least one each pink booth would be established in all the three assembly constituencies of the district including Rewari, Bawal and Kosli. Such initiative was in the past taken in Rajasthan.

‘This is an initiative taken by us, no orders from EC’

District collector and district election officer Ashok Sharma said pink booths would send out message of women empowerment. He said there would be one pink booth in each constituency and only female police personnel would be posted. He said, “This is an initiative taken by us. We’ve not received any orders from the poll panel in this regard.”

More female voters in Rewari

The ratio of female to male voters is better in Rewari compared to the state’s average. The state average is 865 female voters for every 1000 male voters. But in Rewari this average is 904. Rewari also leads in voter ratio. While in the state there are 598 voters per 1000 people, in Rewari there are 642 voters.
