Hardik Pandya requested Karan Johar to take off controversial ‘Koffee with Karan’ episode

Under fire for sexist comments on a TV show, cricketer Hardik Pandya in a desperate attempt reached out to Karan Johar and requested him to pull down the episode of Koffee with Karan.

Pandya, along with KL Rahul, apparently sent a SOS to Karan asking him to pull down the episode after things spiralled out of hand.

“No one imagined that things would take a worse turn as things often said on the show are taken in jest. But this time Hardik and Rahul’s comments blew in their face and before they could even blink the situation grew from bad to worse. Hardik thought that him issuing an apology would cool things off but that was not to be. It was then that Hardik and Rahul requested Karan to take off the show. The channels gave it a considerable thought with Karan as to whether it is right to pull down the episode considering that the controversy would have given it a significant TRP jump. However, keeping in mind the interest of the cricketers and their careers, Karan and the channel decided it would be best to pull down the episode,” said a source.

Currently, we hear the blame has shifted on to the players’ representatives who were present on the show and who couldn’t identify and stop the players from making the controversial comments.

The duo appeared on Koffee With Karan where their comments – Pandya’s in particular – came in for widespread criticism and raised concerns over the team culture.

On the show, Pandya had boasted about hooking up with multiple women and being open about it with his parents. Rahul was, however, a little more restrained in his responses on relationships and women.

When asked by the host Karan Johar if they had “done it in teammates’ rooms,” both Pandya and Rahul responded in the positive.
