Hanuman Chalisa helps man escape from police custody

Bidupur (Vaishali, Bihar): The police station in-charge and other personnel of the Bidupur police station in Vaishali district of Bihar were taken aback when an accused escaped from their custody while they were lost in his mesmerising recital of the Hanuman Chalisa.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon.

Vijay Chaudhary of Balathad village had filed an FIR complaining that he was thrashed by his nephew and notorious criminal Ratnesh Chaudhary after he refused to give protection money to him. Ratnesh also fired at his uncle before fleeing the spot. A police team reached the village and arrested Vijay. He was brought to the police station and the cops began preparing documents to present him in the court.

Meanwhile, Vijay proposed that he would recite the Hanuman Chalisa for them. The cops agreed. Vijay’s voice was so melodious and his rendering so perfect that the mesmerised cops closed their eyes and were lost in devotion.

Jai Shri Ram

Vijay immediately got up and shouting Jai Shri Ram, escaped from the police station. The startled cops, led by the police station in-charge, began chasing him. However, Vijay himself began shouting ‘chor chor’, giving the passers-by an impression that he was following a thief. It was after a two kilometre chase that the cops could get hold of him near a banana plantation at Kamalpur village.

He was brought back to the police station and was booked for escaping from police custody, besides extortion and assault.
