For its upcoming show Gudiya Humari Sabhi Pe Bhari on &TV, the makers went all-out to find a face among the commoners anchoring traditional ethos, the raw appeal of the region and way of life. After auditioning hundreds of people, the channel zeroed in Sarika Bahroliya to portray the role of Gudiya in the show. Sarika Bahroliya, a native of Gwalior, will be essaying the role of Gudiya.
‘I went through several rounds of auditions before I was finally shortlisted’: Talking about being one among commoners from Madhya Pradesh to be chosen to portray the role of Gudiya, an excited Sarika shared, “Bagging the role of Gudiya is a dream come true for me. I never thought that I will be seeing myself on-screen one day. I went through several rounds of auditions before I was finally shortlisted. Once I was selected, I attended an acting workshop organised by the production team to understand and learn the key nuances of acting, screen presence, dialogue delivery and much more, which helped me a lot in preparing for this role.”
‘I relate to Gudiya in more ways than one’: Sarika further said: “The language spoken by our characters is Bundelkhandi which matches the dialect and tone of the place where the show is based. It wasn’t very difficult to adapt to this dialogue considering I hail from Gwalior. I needed to work upon the diction a bit to bring out its authenticity, but I think I perfectly nailed the pronunciation and tone of this dialect. It feels natural now. This character is extremely special to me not because it is my first on television but because I relate to Gudiya in more ways than one and I am sure that the audience will appreciate it too.”
