‘From Anu Malik I’ve learnt that great talent is timeless,’ says Ronkini Gupta

New Delhi: Ronkini Gupta, has learnt music for 25 years, and as she says “This is what I do best!”. The singer proved her mettle yet again with the chart-buster song Chaav Laga, she sang with Papon. She had previously sung Rafu for Vidya Balan-starrer Tumhari Sulu.

As her newest song hit the Internet music aficionados were curious to find out more about this amazing singer.

Talking about how she bagged the song, the young singer says, “Last year, my song Rafu from Tumhari Sulu was appreciated a lot and I was also nominated for the Filmfare Awards 2018. Manan who was assisting Suresh Triveni (director of Tumhari Sulu) was also assisting Sharat Kataria the director of Sui Dhaaga. It was he who called me and then things worked out after Anu ji and Sharat, tried my voice out. It was a big day for me, I have to say.”

When asked what knowledge she has gathered working with one of the greatest composers in Bollywood — Anu Malik, says Ronkini, “That, great talent is timeless. He has been here as a composer for 4 decades and his energy and passion levels are that of a teenager!”

Ronkini bagged a great song, and has been associated with the biggest banners in the industry, despite being in a very competitive field. Does she consider this an achievement? Pat comes the answer, “Yes, absolutely! It’s a validation of my belief that there is a right time for everything and that hardwork and perseverance never fails you! Yes, it is competitive, but that is a test of your patience and grit… At the same time it’s also so much more accommodating today.”

Which actress would she love to do playback singing for, after Anushka Sharma? “All of them… After Vidya Balan and Anushka Sharma both extremely talented actors, my wish list is endless… Deepika, Kareena, Alia… all of them…,” expressed Ronkini.

“I am still not in the space to really choose songs… As of now, songs are choosing me. And I am perfectly alright with that… I just wish that all the songs that I get should be able to do justice to my potential as a singer and that I should be able to justify them fully!” said Ronkini talking about how she decides to choose a song.

The melodious love song Chhaav Laga from the upcoming film Sui Dhaaga was recently released on YouTube. While the song has received good response form listeners, how was the response from Ronkini’s family and friends?

“Oh! They are on top of the world. It’s like their prayers have been answered. Specially my parents who have worked so hard to get me trained for years together. They ahvd always supported and motivated me. Friends are ecstatic, they seem to be proud…yes!” said an excited Ronkini.

Sui Dhaaga directed by Sharat Kataria has Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan in the lead, and is set to release on September 28.
