First smart road to come up in Bilaspur, to save 1.5 lakh litre water

Bilaspur: The first smart road in Bilaspur will be built from Jarhabhata Road to Nehru Nagar Chowk. This road will have many unique feature, the most noticeable among them will be its ability to recharge underground water.

The rainwater falling on the road will travel underground via a duct.

Bilaspur Municipal Corporation engineers have claimed that water recharging system would make this an ideal road. They said if annual rainfall is 1000 mm then this system would help to save about 1.5 lakh litres of water.

The civic body has decided to name the smart road after Padmashri Late Pt. Shyamlal Chaturvedi and to install his lifesize statue.

The smart road will also have bio-toilets, urinals, greenery and cement chairs. The width of the road would be 22 meters and it would have cycle track and footpath for pedestrians on both sides.
