When we set out on the 2019 journey, the scenario was quite fuzzy. The opposition parties were resurgent after the 2018 Assembly Elections. Congress was brimming over with confidence, and talk of grand alliance was in the air. BJP, on the other hand, was licking its wounds after losing in 3 states, which had given it 62 out of 65 Lok Sabhā seats in 2014. The UP Mahagathbandhan with SP, BSP, RLD, and Congress was looking scary. But if Exit Poll 2019 results are to be believed, the NDA is set to return to power at the Centre. Here we take a quick look at how the BJP is predicted to perform in three key states UP, Maharashtra and Delhi:
UP Exit Poll 2019
If the exit poll results hold true on the day of the counting of votes, the BJP is likely to win 62-68 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. The grand-alliance is predicted to win 10-16 Lok Sabha seats with the Congress expected to get a maximum of two seats.
In 2014, Congress had won two – Amethi and Raebareli. By this BJP is all set to dominate Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha election once again.
The SP contested on 37 seats, while BSP fielded its candidates on 38 seats and RLD fought on 3 seats.
Maharashtra Exit Poll 2019
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena alliance can expect a second term in the state too, with the Assembly polls to be held after four months.
The exit polls are more positive for Sena as its U-turn to join the alliance ahead of the Lok Sabha elections was expected to damage the party more than its ally, the BJP.
Most of the exit polls have projected the saffron alliance to be winning 34 to 39 seats and restricting the Opposition to 14 or fewer seats.
Although the BJP-Sena alliance is facing a loss of about five-eight seats as compared to its 2014 tally, it is considered to be less after running the government at the Centre and state for five years.
The Congress-NCP was expecting a fair show with at least 20 seats with the help of its smaller allies like Swabhimani Paksha, Bahujan Vikas Aghadi and Yuva Swabhimani Paksha.
ABP-AC Nielsen has projected 34 (NDA) and 14 (UPA), Republic-C Voter 34 and 14, CNN-News18-IPSOS 42-44 and 4-6 and Times Now-VMR 38 and 10 in Maharashtra.
The BJP-led NDA had won 41 seats, while Congress-NCP were restricted to six seats in the 2014 elections.
Delhi Exit Poll 2019
The BJP will sweep the Lok Sabha polls in Delhi, winning 6 out of 7 seats, the poll of polls — an aggregate of exit polls — predicted on Sunday. Congress will win a lone seat, whereas the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which leads the state government, will score a naught.
While the Aaj Tak-Axis My India and News 18 India-IPSOS polls predicted 6-7 seats for the BJP and a seat for the Congress, ABP News-Nielsen gave 5 seats to the BJP and a seat each to its rivals.
News Nation and India TV-CNX’s exit poll gave all seven seats to the BJP. The BJP had won all seats in Delhi in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
