New Delhi: Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed people to vote and ensure the highest ever turnout in the history of Indian elections.
PM Modi’s appeal appeared in a blog post — titled Four Requests For Democracy — published on Wednesday morning.
PM Modi urges influencers from various fields to motivate voters
In a series of tweets, he urged influencers from various fields, including religious leaders, film stars, sportspersons as well as his political opponents — Congress president Rahul Gandhi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, BSP supremo Mayawati, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, HD Kumaraswamy, to name a few — to motivate people to exercise franchise.
“Voting is among our prime duties. Would you want a situation where something happens in the country that you disapprove of and you are forced to think – because I did not go vote that day, this unfortunate situation has arisen and the nation is suffering,” PM Modi said in the blog. He said voting manifests our resolution to contribute in nation’s development.
