Bhopal: Upset that his three-year-old son Duggu Bansal remained untraced even after more than 36 hours, his father, Rohit Bansal, allegedly attempted to commit suicide by consuming a poisonous substance at his house on Wednesday evening. At the time this report was filed, he is undergoing treatment at Hamidia Hospital and is in a critical condition.
On Tuesday morning, Bhagya Bansal alias Duggu, was playing in rainwater along with his elder brother when he accidentally fell into the swollen nullah in Panchsheel Nagar, and was swept away by the swift current.
Rohit, who works for a gas agency, had not eaten since Tuesday, according to information.
In his statement to the police, Rohit confirmed that he had consumed a poisonous substance.
250 personnel search for Duggu
- Amidst fears that Duggu may have drowned in flood waters, around 250 personnel from BMC, district police, state disaster management force (SDRF), home guard along with local residents, carried out an unsuccessful search for more than 12 hours on Wednesday.
- The search operation ended at 9 pm and will commence early on Thursday.
- Officials said Shahpura Lake will be searched now as the nullah in which the boy was swept away reaches the lake passing through Ekant Park.
