Director Soumik Sen accused of sexual misconduct: What will happen to Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Cheat India’?

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]fter Soumik Sen, director of Emraan Hashmi’s film Cheat India, was accused of sexual harassment by a journalist, Hashmi said that he is planning to include clauses to prevent sexual harassment at work place and his office.

The filmmaker is the latest person in the industry to be accused of sexual harassment. Soumik’s producer, Gulaab Gang producer Anubhav Sinha, confirmed the victim’s claim. While most of the people in the Bollywood industry are supporting females who have spoken up as a part of the #MeToo movement or are distancing themselves from accusers who have been named by various victims, it will be interesting to see what stand does Hashmi take in Sen’s case.

“The film is co-produced by Atul Kasbekar, Tanuj Garg and Emraan Hasmi. The film went on floor few months ago and is almost complete. The major portion of the film was shot in Lucknow and only patch work is left for some scenes. So even if the makers decide to distance themselves from the director, there is no way they can not give him credit as he has finished shooting for the film.”

The film is also co-produced by Bhushan Kumar ,who too has been accused by an aspiring actress of sexual harassment. Bhushan, however, has denied all these allegations and his wife too has refuted these claims.

Tanuj remained unavailable for comment.
