Bhopal/Dindori: In a deplorable incident, Manoj Larokar, the women and child development officer of Dindori was arrested on Sunday, on charges of raping a 36-year-old woman.
The women and child development officers, are responsible for implementing government programmes for women safety and security, apart from their overall development and welfare. This makes the allegations on the officer shameful and far more serious.
Larokar faces charges of raping the woman for six months on the promise of giving her a job. The survivor had lodged a complaint with the Dindori Kotwali police station. After initial investigation and conducting medical examination of the survivor, police registered first information report (FIR), and arrested Larokar on Sunday.
The police is interrogating Larokar, who is said to be already married. The police is likely to present him before the court on Monday, and seek his remand, so that the details of the case could be investigated.
No action by department yet
Due to government holiday on Sunday, no departmental action has yet been initiated against Larokar.
Sources said that once the women and child development department gets a report from the police about the FIR on Monday, the officer is likely to be suspended, as per rules.
