Mumbai: Deepika Padukone has just returned from Cannes Film Festival where she walked the red carpet for a cosmetic brand that she endorses. Prior to this, the actor was in New York walking the red carpet at the MET gala.
Deepika spent quite a few days in the United States and if sources are to believed, then her Hollywood manager got her to meet a few Hollywood producers as well to discuss new projects.
A source says, “During her visit for MET gala, Deepika not only met some international celebrities but also had meetings with some of the Hollywood directorsl. She has not signed any new project in Hindi, so she thought that it is the best time for her to look for new international projects. While things are yet to be finalised on any projects, she has informed them about her availability and the kind of films she is looking forward to do.”
Meanwhile post Deepika’s film with Vishal Bhardwaj, which also starred Irrfan Khan have been put on hold, she has been approached by some filmmakers but has not signed any new film.
A source says, “Deepika has hiked her fees post “Padmaavat”, and she is also not keen to do films with new directors. On the other hand, established filmmakers are in dilemma as they would want to cast bigger star and are ready to pay good amount too but then their films end up becoming too expensive.”
It was reported that Deepika had charged ₹15 crore for “Padmaavat”, although there is no official confirmation on it. There is also a buzz that Deepika will be seen in “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”s sequel, but she has not yet confirmed this piece of news.
