Deepika Padukone to play Ranveer’s wife in ’83’?

Mumbai: Speculations are rife that Deepika Padukone could play Ranveer Singh’s onscreen wife in Kabir Khan directorial 83 which is based on the cricket world cup win of India in 1983. Deepika is reported to have been approached to play the role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Bhatia in the biopic.

The role is said to be more of a cameo focusing majorly on how Romi left the stadium during the finals assuming that West Indies will be easily winning. However, once the tables turned after Kapil Dev took the running catch to dismiss Viv Richards, Romi tried to return to stadium but she faced huge difficulties on her return.

The makers of the film feel that these emotions can be well documented by Deepika Padukone. The role is said to be an extended cameo and would only need Deepika to spare a few days.

It is believed that Deepika has given a positive indication to be part of the film but is yet to sign the dotted lines. If Deepika does come on board, the movie will he the first where Ranveer and Deepika will be pairing up after marriage.
