CRPF jawan killed in militant attack in Srinagar

Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRFP) trooper was killed Tuesday afternoon in militants’ attack on a paramilitary patrol party in Srinagar’s Batamaloo area.

As per police, the militants fired on the CRPF patrol party at busy Balgarden in the congested area of the city.

A police spokesman stated that jawans showed restraint after they came under attack and said; “ Terrorists fired at security force naka near Batmaloo.”

Locals fled to safer places when they heard firing in the area.

In an immediate response, following the attack, police and the CRPF cordoned the area and started a search for the militants.

So far no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.

There has been spike in attacks on the security forces this year. Around 45 security force personnel including 24 men of Jammu and Kashmir Police have been killed in different incidents and attacks on the forces since January.
