Congress leader Twinkle Dagre’s remains found in drain, search on for her teeth and bones

Indore, Madhya Pradesh: Two years after 22-year-old Congress leader Twinkle Dagre had gone missing, police have sent some of her remains, recovered from the silt of a drain near an incense factory in Tigaria Badshah area, for medical examination.

“The police will search for Twinkle’s teeth and bones after the silt dries up. We will not have any difficulty in collecting vital clues once they are recovered,” said ASP Prashant Choubey.

The officials had collected evidences by digging up three different spots in Banganga industrial area after the clues during interrogations suggested that the accused might have disposed of the body here.

Main accused, BJP leader Jagdish Karotiya, was sent to jail on Tuesday after the SIT on Friday registered a case against him and his sons – Ajay, Vinay, Vijay Karotiya – for abducting and murdering Twinkle.

The accused also told police on Friday that they murdered Twinkle, took her body to the spot and burnt it. The remains were later thrown into the drain. The police claimed the accused covered up the murder after being inspired by the Hindi film Drishyam.

Indore Deputy Inspector General Harinarayanchari Mishra ANI that the accused had called the municipal corporation seeking permission to dig a pit on a plot of its land, claiming that they needed to bury a dog. The accused burned Dagre’s body on the plot of land and threw the remains of her body into a nearby sewage drain, the police officer alleged.

The police received information that something was buried in the land and found a dog’s carcass, Mishra said, adding that the information was leaked on purpose in a bid to mislead the police. The accused allegedly tried to implicate Dagre’s fiance by disposing of her mobile phone near his home in Badnawar area.

“The accused mentioned that they had watched Hindi movie Drishyam and were inspired from that,” Mishra claimed. He said the police zoned in on the five after discovering jewellery at the spot where the body was burned.

The police has also recovered the ashes of Twinkle’s burnt body, clothes, bracelet, earrings, etc. A police team has gone to Badnawar town to locate the victim’s mobile. However, the mobile phone has not been located yet.

Meanwhile, Twinkle’s mother Rita and father Sanjay have demanded from ADG (police) Varun Kapoor to make former MLA Sudarshan Gupta as co-accused.

Karotiya brothers sent on police remand till Jan 19

Ajay, Vinay, Vijay Karotiya and their accomplice Neelu alias Neelesh Kashyap, accused in Twinkle Dagre murder case, were produced in the court on Wednesday. The court sent Ajay, Vinay and Vijay on police remand till January 19, while Neelu was sent to jail.

The case

Jagdish Karotiya, a 65-year-old former BJP corporator, is the main accused in the case. Twinkle allegedly had an illicit affair with Jagdish Karotiya and started forcing him to stay with her. This allegedly created friction in Jagdish’s family which led him to hatch a plot to kill her. Twinkle had gone missing since October 16, 2016. Accused Jagdish has confessed to the crime and revealed that he received help from his sons Ajay, Vijay, Vinay and their close aide Neelesh alias Neelu Kashyap.
