Check out how B-town celebs are campaigning #BeatPlasticPollution

New Delhi: June 5 being World Environment Day, is celebrated across the globe by environment activists, school children, governments, civilians and celebrities alike with a social cause to achieve a better environment for our future generations.

With this year’s theme being #BeatPlasticPollution, Bollywood celebrities are running a campaign on Twitter sharing their statements, photos and tagging others to carry forward the campaign. The aim this time is to reduce plastic consumption, and replace plastic products with a reusable alternative.

World Environment Day was first held in 1974, and it helps countries to focus on environmental issues like marine pollution and global warming, urging people to strive for sustainable consumption.

Veteran actor Juhi Chawla shared a post on the micro blogging site with her selfie holding two toothbrushes. Alongside her photo were three pointers to explain the campaign: Choose which type of single-use plastic you’re ready to replace; Take a selfie with a reusable alternative that you’re ready to embrace; share your selfie on social media with the following #BeatPlasticPollution & #WorldEnvironmentDay and challenge your friends.
