Indore: The city celebrated its emergence at the top in the Swachhta Sarvekshan-2018, among 4203 cities and towns in the country which were included in the survey, with a rally of children riding vintage cars on Wednesday. Indore has won the crown for the second year in a row. Bhopal is at the second spot and Chandigarh at the third.
A range of new initiatives has made this success possible. Among them is a specially-designed dustbin for cars. More than 35,000 four-wheeler users in the city use this dustbin.
The Indore Municipal Corporation has removed public dustbins. Instead, garbage is collected from homes and shops by the municipality workers. And most the residents segregate the wet and the dry waste. Many families are using wet waste to manufacture compost.
