Mumbai: It has been a terrible weekend for Bollywood box office as all the films which released last Friday flopped miserably. Emraan Hashmi-starrer Why Cheat India failed to make any impression in the minds of the audience and ended up with a paltry figure of Rs 5.75 cr in the opening weekend. Arshad Warsi-starrer Fraud Saiyaan and Govinda’s Rangeela Raja met with the same fate.
Says film trade analyst Narendra Gupta, “Emraan Hashmi’s movie failed miserably. Viewers didn’t like or connect with the plot. The film was made at a cost of Rs 28 cr, but it doesn’t look like it will be able to recover, given that audience has rejected the movie completely.”
Another trade analyst Amod Mehra, says, “Emraan tried an image makeover which didn’t work well. Also, the plot of the movie didn’t fit well with the audience. This has been a particularly bad week for Bollywood. None of the films worked.”
The winner was Uri, as it has crossed Rs 100 cr now. Narendra Gupta says, “The second weekend collection of Uri was more than its first weekend. People have loved the movie and are continuing to watch it again making it a superhit.”
