Mumbai: It has been a disaster weekend at Bollywood box office with both Pihu and Mohalla Assi failing to sizzle. Mohalla Assi collected Rs 30 Lakh on Friday and followed it with a dismal Rs 25 lakh and paltry Rs 40 lakh taking its total to Rs 95 lakhs.
Pihu on the other hand registered Rs 45 lakh on Friday and saw a marginal rise to reach Rs 50 lakh and 65 lakh on Saturday and Sunday respectively taking its total to Rs 1.60 cr.
Commenting on both films, film trade analyst Narendra Gupta said, “Mohalla Assi has been a washout. Reasons being many had already seen the film digitally and it is also an old film. There was no appeal value left. Pihu on the other hand did marginally well but failed to attract large audience and remained largely a multiplex affair.”
Trade analyst Amod Mehra too feels that Mohalla Assi failed owing to it already being watched by many and not many people liking Sunny Deol playing a sober image.
In the mean time, Thugs Of Hindostan started it downward spiral and collected a paltry sum of Rs 5 cr last weekend. Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun are meanwhile still going strong.
