Mumbai: LoveYatri starring Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain had a disastrous run at the box-office failing to create any sizzle collecting a paltry Rs 6.5 crore in its opening weekend. Andhadhun, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, on the other hand soared high to collect a decent Rs 15 crore on the Day 1 itself.
Film trade analyst Narendra Gupta says, “LoveYatri was a total flop. It made Rs 1.75cr, Rs 2 cr and Rs 2.75 cr thereby taking the total tally to Rs 6.50 crore. It was a routine story and the little business came from Mumbai and Ahmedabad. It hardly did any business in other regions.”
Another trade analyst Amod Mehra said, “The story only appealed to the youth. The collections were also affected by the good run of Andhadhun which majority of viewers were excited to watch.”
Meanwhile, Andhadhun which opened at a low level saw a great rise on the weekends, especially on Sunday. Narendra Gupta adds, “Word of mouth was very strong for this film. People loved it and after a long time one got to watch a nice thriller. Ayushmann did a great job and as did Tabu. The positive word of mouth created more excitement among people to see this film.” Amod Mehra too credited the film for doing well owing to its positive and strong word of mouth.
Meanwhile, Hollywood film Venom raked Rs 15 crore in its opening weekend.
