Mumbai: Dussehra brought in much cheer for viewers of Hindi films as Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Badhaai Ho hit the bulls eye capturing hearts of audience and critics alike. The movie which opened in cinema screens across India on October 18 has raked in Rs 45 crores in its four days run till now.
The movie opened well on Thursday collecting Rs 7.29 cr and saw a good jump on Friday to Rs 11.67 cr, followed by Saturday with Rs 12.60 cr and Sunday with Rs 13.50 cr taking its overall total to Rs 45.06 cr.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh termed the collections as sensational and said that the collections would have been more had it released in Madhya Pradesh where cinema halls are currently on strike. Taran called Badhaai Ho a hit and stated that only this week will decide how bigger a hit it would actually turn out to be.
Trade analyst Narendra Gupta credited the brilliant trailer as one of the prime reasons behind its success. “The trailer created a lot of curiosity among viewers. The film also turned out to be nice with a great story and brilliant performances. The positive word of mouth helped the movie a lot.”
Meanwhile Arjun Kapoor starrer Namaste England sank without any trace. Says Narendra Gupta, “Nothing was good about the movie. Neither the story nor the performances. It was made at a budget of Rs 55 crore and has made only about Rs 6 crore in its four-day run.”
