Gujarat: BJP Yuva Morcha members thrash Dalit youth to stop him from joining body

Ahmedabad: A Dalit youth and his brother were allegedly thrashed and threatened by the functionaries of BJP Yuva Morcha at Chandkheda in Ahmedabad. The Dalit youth wanted to join the BJYM body but its general secretary and other functionaries opposed him.

Gaurang Aasodia, resident of Chandkheda, runs a pan parlour. He and his brother were sitting at their pan shop on Tuesday. Just then four people including, BJYM Chandkheda general secretary Kamlesh Goswami, Vinod Vyas and Manoj Babbar, reached there. They started arguing with Gaurang and his brother and said they would not allow them to join the BJP’s youth front body.

Argument turned sour

Gaurang was allegedly assaulted by Kamlesh Goswami and Vinod Vyas as the argument turned sour. When Gaurang’s brother, Hitesh, intervened, they aassaulted him aswell.

Police said Vinod Vyas had a sharp-edged weapon and he threatened Gaurang that he was the general secretary of BJP and so wielded considerable influence.

Gaurang, Hitesh and their father were injured and have been hospitalised. Gaurang has lodged police complaint against Kamlesh Goswami, Vinod Vyas, Manoj Babbar and one other person. Vyas has also lodged a complaint against Hitesh that he abused Kamlesh Goswami and threatened to kill his family.
