New Delhi: A video, which went viral on Tuesday, has stirred a controversy around the death of a man – whose body was found from railway tracks near Paharpur station in Bihar’s Gaya district on Saturday. The video shows co-passengers accusing cops of throwing away the man.
It is being alleged that Venkatesh Chunnu (22) was thrown out of a moving train by the GRP personnel on Friday night after the railway officials allegedly quoted a specific amount to Chunnu – who was travelling without ticket.
‘Bihar Police ki gundagardi’
- In the viral video, the audio of a co-passenger can be heard wherein he says, “paise key liye passenger ko chalti train se phenka, ye hai Bihar Police ki gundagardi, Kodarma se Gaya ke beech police ne passenger ko chalti train se pehenka”.
- The victim was reportedly thrown out of the Patna to Ranchi Jan Shatabdi Express even after he managed a valid ticket from Train Ticket Examiner.
- The incident happened when the train was in between Koderma and Gaya on September 28. One of the passengers onboard shot the video on his mobile phone which eventually went viral.
Superintendent of Rail Police (Patna), Ashok Kumar Singh denied the allegations and said, “when the train reached Paharpur, few passengers complained that two youths were creating nuisance under the influence of liquor in a particular coach. The escort team rushed there to nab them. However, apprehending his arrest, Venkatesh alias Chunnu jumped off the train while his friend Krishna was arrested”.
“Gaya GRP searched for the victim but could not find him due to darkness. The body was found on the tracks about 3 KM away from Paharpur when a GRP team visited the spot on Saturday,” Singh added. Later, the victim’s body was handed over to the family after post-mortem at Gaya government hospital.
