Bhopal: The tigress brought to Van Vihar National Park for treatment from Churna is fully healthy. On Thursday, she was released in the Churna area of Satpura National Park. On the directive of the Wildlife Headquarters, the treatment of a tigress was done for the first time while keeping her in captivity. After she regained full health, she was again teased in the forest.
After the success of this case, now the Van Vihar hospital will be able to treat sick and injured wild animals of the entire state. They will then be then released back in the forest area from where they were brought. The Wildlife Hospital of Van Vihar will be the first hospital in the country where injured wild animals from all over the state will be brought here for treatment.
Had hypoglycemia: Wildlife physician Atul Gupta said that after being brought to Van Vihar, it was found in the blood sample report that the tigress had an attack of hypoglycemia. Because of which she could not get up. The glucose level in her body was very low. Due to this, she was not able to roar nor was she able to get up. Had the treatment not started on time, the tigress could have suffered a stroke and this could have proved fatal. It was revealed that her stomach was completely empty. She had not eaten anything for 20–25 days.
The tigress is only 18 months old: Van Vihar director Kamalika Mahanta said that the tigress is around 18 months old. She would have left her mother and must be looking for her own prey but as she could not find prey she came near the village. She could not hunt cattle because of the presence of villagers. The tigress was rescued while she entered the village.
The first attempt was unsuccessful: A tigress was brought from Bandhavgarh Park at Van Vihar Wildlife Hospital. Her throat was completely cut. More than 18 operations of tigress were performed. The tigress became healthy. The larynx was also completely joined, but the renal infection was caused which proved fatal.
