Arbaaz Khan summoned by Thane Police over IPL betting scam

New Delhi: Thane police has summoned actor-director Arbaaz Khan in connection with Indian Premier League (IPL) betting scam on Friday.

Thane Police had recently arrested a 42-year-old bookie, Sonu Jalan aka Sonu Batla, while busting a betting racket, and Jalan is allegedly linked with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, as per media reports.

Jalan was arrested in Mumbai from Kalyan court when the Police were tipped off about his presence. Financial Express reported Jalan had come to the court to meet an arrested accused to get more information about IPL case, and that he is associated with many Bollywood celebrities.

Arbaz’s name came up during the investigation hence he has been asked to record his statement by the ant-extortion cell of Thane crime branch. Salman Khan’s elder brother was summoned by the police on Friday afternoon to join the probe.

While Arbaaz was betting on IPL matches he lost Rs 2.8 crore in bets following which he was receiving threats from Jalan, said TV reports.
