Anushka Sharma’s animal love is obvious. She has been raising voices for their rights from time to time. She has started a new campaign against the perpetrators of cruelty on animals. The campaign is named #JusticeForAnimals.
Anushka wants a change in the 59-year-old law in the country. Under the present provisions, only a fine of 100 rupees is imposed on the accused.
A dog named Lucky died in Mumbai recently after it was brutally beaten up. Anushka is very sad and angry with this.
Anushka says, ‘Every living being has the equal right to live. This world is not just for humans alone. Here every living being has the right to live equally. If humans who commit crimes against humans can get strict punishment, then people who commit crimes against animals should not be spared. Animals also have the same right to get justice. ‘
‘Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man’: Anushka further said, ‘The existing laws are very old and there is a need to reform and make them strict so that the cruelty against animals may stop. As humans we have a voice to speak up, we have fundamental rights, we can ask for justice and have near and dear ones to take care of us. However, animals aren’t as lucky. Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures.’
Anushka is opening a shelter for animals: To put her words into action Anushka is opening a shelter for the abandoned and the rejected animals so that they are protected, loved, and nurtured. There they will be treated as equal beings with equal rights and given equal affection.
