New Delhi: After writer-producer-director Vinta Nanda accused the Alok Nath of rape and violation under the #Metoo campaign, a string of fresh allegations have surfaced against the “Sanskari” actor.
With her account accusing Alok Nath of sexual harassment and misconduct, Actress Sandhya Mridul became the second woman to do so. Mridul is best-known for her work in TV series like Swabhimaan, Aashirwad and Koshish and movies like Page 3 and Angry Indian Goddesses.
‘I stand by you Vinta’
Taking to social media, Mridul named and shamed Alok Nath with a detailed post on Twitter – wherein the actress wrote of how Alok Nath’s alleged behaviour began making her feel uncomfortable after a cast and crew dinner and then how he would try and force his way into her hotel room where, she says, Nath lunged at her, screaming, “I want you, you are mine.”
“Mr Alok Nath, you know this to be true. As do few others,” Sandhya Mridul writes, “I stand by you Vinta. What I went through is nothing compared to you. More power to you. To us all. I am certain there are others. I urge you to come forward. Your time is up sir.”
Additionally, she also recalled her co-star Reema Lagoo, who played her mother, and others on the unit helping her through the traumatic shoot.
Here is Mridul’s detailed account against the alleged harassment:
‘Alok Nath stripped in front of me’
Apart from Vinita and Mridul, a woman crew member of Hum Saath Saath Hain has also shared her nightmarish experience of working with Alok Nath. She has accused Nath of raping and brutalising her, not just once but twice.
In an interview with a leading daily, the woman recounted her horrific experience during the last schedule of the film in Mumbai. “We were shooting for a night scene and I had taken a change of costumes to him. Once I handed him the clothes, he started stripping in front of me. I was taken aback and tried to make my way out of the room as soon as possible. When I tried to run out, he grabbed my hand and manhandled me. I remember yanking my hand out of his grip and rushing out of the room,” she alleged.
How Nath’s wife had reacted to Vinta’s ordeal
After Vinta narrated her alleged ordeal in a long Facebook post on late Monday night, she spoke to a media portal about the incident in detail and revealed that she had shared her horror story in the 1990s but back then, she was not heard as there was no #MeToo movement.
“I spoke to friends, family members and I even wrote about it in La Officiel. Urvashi Ashar from The Times of India interviewed me as well. But it was not the #MeToo movement era in the 90s,” she has been quoted as saying.
During the interview, Vinta also revealed that she had informed Alok Nath’s wife about her husband’s alleged behaviour on the horrific night. “I spoke to his wife. She said she can’t say or do anything about it,” Vinta stated.
He is in a state of tremendous shock: Nath’s lawyer
Meanwhile, Alok Nath’s lawyer – in a TV report – has said that the actor is in mental trauma with the accusation. He also said that if required, they may take a legal action against Vinta. He also said that Alok Nath will speak to the media and will call a press conference after two days.
