Gwalior: This picture is of the park at Chandapura in the Gwalior Assembly constituency in Madhya Pradesh. Inside the park are two statues of Congress leader Madhavrao Scindia and his mother, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia. On Tuesday morning, before voting began for the Assembly polls in the state, the two busts were covered with tarpaulin sheets so that they cannot ‘influence the voters’. The move followed directives from the Election Commission of India.
200 mt radius
A polling booth was located in the community hall on the park premises. Rules say that there should be nothing that can influence the voters within 200 metre radius of a polling both. The decision was taken in conformity with this rule.
