AIB CEO Tanmay Bhatt to step down from position, Khamba sent on temporary leave

[dropcap]C[/dropcap]omedy star Tanmay Bhat will “step away from his association with AIB”, said the comedy group that is currently struggling with allegations that have surfaced in India’s #MeToo movement.

AIB’s Human Resources head, Vidhi Jotwani’s note read that the company was “closely monitoring the sequence of events on social around the allegations against AIB and also against our co-founder and CEO Tanmay Bhat. We cannot overlook Tanmay’s role…”

On Monday, a woman, who wished to remain anonymous, accused Gursimran Khamba of sexual harassment in 2015 and 2016. On two separate occasions, he made unwelcome advances and she had to forcefully push him away. He also emotionally abused for almost five months.

Tanmay Bhat is said to have been aware of the allegations of sexual misconduct against comedian Utsav Chakraborty. The statement reads that Tanmay Bhat has stepped down from his position as the CEO while Khamba is on a temporary leave of absence till there is more clarity on the incident. Tanmay would not be involved in the day to day function of AIB or in any other manner.

Earlier, Utsav Chakraborty, ex-comedian from AIB, was accused of sexual harassment towards women on social media recently. In response to this, the group delisted any video from the former member.
