[dropcap]A[/dropcap]fter a great year in which she rose professionally and personally, actor Deepika Padukone is all set to start shooting for her next film Chapak, based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
Padukone, who had earlier refused to work opposite Vicky Kaushal as he was a newcomer, seems to have changed her mind as the makers have recently announced that Vikrant Massey will be playing the lead in the film opposite her.
It seems over the period of time, the actress, who is also co-producing the film, has changed her stand of not collaborating with new actors, said a source, adding, “Vikrant is playing Laxmi’s love interest and will have limited scenes, since the story is about Laxmi’s life.” Vikrant was recently seen in Amazon Prime web series Mirzapur.
Directed by Meghna Gulzaar, Chapak is based on the life of Laxmi, her live-in partner Alok Dixit, a social activist, and their daughter Pihu. Laxmi and Alok later started living separately after they developed some differences in their relationship.
The film is set to go on floor in March 2019 and rest of the casting of the film is yet to be decided.
