After Mughalsarai and Allahabad, UP CM Yogi Adityanath renames Faizabad as Ayodhya

New Delhi: Making a big announcement at the Deepotsav in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that Faizabad will now be known as Ayodhya.

Faizabad district currently encompasses the twin towns of Faizabad and Ayodhya. Earlier people were scared to even talk about Ayodhya. We should not limit our gods to mere chants and slogans, he said on Tuesday.

Ayodhya, will play host to grand Diwali celebrations on Tuesday and Wednesday. South Korean First Lady Kim Jung-sook too will take part in the celebrations. During her visit to the holy city, Kim will attend a ground-breaking ceremony for the building a memorial dedicated to a Korean queen. Diwali celebrations in Ayodhya this time are taking place in the shadow of the Ram temple debate, as the chorus rises for the construction of a Ram Mandir at Ramjanmabhoomi.

Yogi announced a new medical college for Ayodhya, indicating that the name of the college will be in the name of Raja Dashrath. He has also announced a new airport in the name of Lord Ram.

After renaming Mughalsarai Junction to Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Allahabad to Prayagraj, this is Yogi’s third such announcement since he became the chief minister.s

Yogi Adityanath, responding to criticism of his renaming spree, had said that a name matters. “Why are those protesting the change not named Raavan or Duryodhan? Why didn’t their parents name them ‘Raavan’ and ‘Duryodhan’ in that case? In this country, the name holds a lot of significance,” he had said.
