After digital platform, filmmaker Karan Johar to venture into television

Lot of biggies from Bollywood industry have ventured into small screen – from Ajay Devgan to Shahrukh Khan to Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Nikhil Advani to Salman Khan; most of them have tried their luck in television. And the latest to join this list is Karan Johar.

Apparently, the producer-director is keen is venturing into television and if all goes well; he will be coming up with a series of three short films that will showcase on Star Plus.

An insider from the channel informs, “Karan Johar recently had a 2 hour long meeting with the creative head and channel head of Star Plus where they discussed about the future of television. Karan wanted to venture into TV for a very long time and after few discussions, the meeting was set up with the agenda of bringing uniqueness in the content.”

Adding further, our source said, “Karan has few short films in his mind; family related ones and he wanted to explore those ideas on silver screen. His experience of molding his thoughts and presenting it is the feature format on television grabbed the channel’s attention too. The meeting proved to be quite fruitful and very soon; the team will start working on it.”

Karan is known to be the king of filmmaking. Be it producing a film or making one KJo has some of the most successful films under his banner of Dharma Productions. Recently, they have ventured into the digital space also.

Last year, Sujoy Ghosh had collaborated with the same channel for the mini-series – Goodluck, Mirchi Malini and Copy.
