Abhishek Kapoor takes viewers on a pilgrimage of love with ‘Kedarnath’ trailer

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] love story set against the backdrop of a pilgrimage, Kedarnath, stars Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput. The film tells how love blossomed between a Muslim porter (Sushant Singh Rajput) and an affluent Hindu tourist (Sara Ali Khan) who survive the floods that devastated Uttarakhand in 2013.

The trailer of the film was launched on Monday in Mumbai by the makers. At the trailer launch, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara looked resplendent in a floral bralet and white ankle-length skirt with a sheer white dupatta.

Shot in the picturesque locales of Uttarakhand, the trailer of Kedarnath brings some beautiful scenes to cherish, along with some powerful shots of the tragic flood which destroyed the state in 2013.

The breathtaking long shots of the trek, the snow-capped mountains in the backdrop with clear streams gurgling down, takes a viewer to the ‘Devbhoomi’. The trailer gives us a brief peek into how love develops between the young couple — a pilgrim (Mukku) and a porter (Mansoor). While these scenes generate a slight smile on our faces, the following scenes soon get shrouded by dark clouds refusing to leave the mountains alone. We learn that Mukku’s father is against her relationship with Mansoor and hell, quite literally, breaks lose soon after as heavy rains cause a devastating flood.

Sara resembles her mother Amrita Singh, and graces the silver screen smoothly alongside Sushant as the tragedy takes the center-stage in the trailer. Sara seems confident in her Bollywood debut, and Sushant rules the screen with his effortless charm in the trailer.

Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film’s tagline is ‘Love is a pilgrimage’ and mainly revolves around the tragedy that struck the 14 kilometre-long journey from Gauri Kund to the Kedarnath shrine in 2013.

With songs composed by Amit Trivedi and lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, the film is slated to hit theatres on December 7 after several delays.
