Abhishek-Aishwarya’s ‘Gulab Jamun’ gets new producer

Mumbai: Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were supposed to unite on screen after a long time in Anurag Kashyap’s Gulab Jamun. The filmmaker was to produce the film under his banner and his assistant Sarvesh Mewara was to direct it. Now, according to latest updates Ronnie Screwvala will be backing the film.

“Abhishek and Aishwarya’s film was to start this year. The film was offered to the couple a long time ago but they had suggested some changes in the script. Anurag incorporated those changes and a couple of months ago the actors confirmed that they will be part of the film. It was to go on floor this year but was delayed after Anurag chose to dissolved his production house Phantom after failing to take action against Vikas Bahl over sexual harassment charges made by their colleague. So, the project could not take off. Now the film is set to start next year and will be produced Ronnie. Although the team of writers will be same, he is looking for a new director. But there is no official confirmation on it,” says a source.

There was buzz that the film might have Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan too in it but since it was pushed ahead a few times, the actual star cast of the film was never revealed by the makers. Abhishek is currently working on Anurag Basu’s next, while Aishwarya has not taken up any other project apart from Gulab Jamun.
