New Delhi: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna’s Patanjali on Wednesday launched a new ‘swadeshi messaging application’ called Kimbho to compete with WhatsApp, reported ANI.
“Now Bharat will speak. After launching SIM cards, Baba Ramdev has launched a new messaging application called Kimbho. Now Whats App will be given competition. Our own #SwadeshiMessagingplatform. Download it directly from Google Play store,” Patanjali’s spokesperson SK Tijarawala tweeted.
“Kimbho is a real time messaging app. Kimbho empowers Private and Group chat with Free Phone and Video Calling. It has dozens of amazing features to share Text, Audio, Photos, Videos, Stickers, Quickies, Location, GIF, Doodle and more,” reads the brief on Google Play Store. The app has already acquired 4 stars on Play Store.
The tagline of Kimbho says “Ab Bharat Bolega”. Kimbho is a Sanskrti word which is used to ask “How are you? What’s new?”
Patanjali’s messaging application comes after the firm recently tied up with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) to enter the telecom sector by launching Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM cards.
The Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM cards can be recharged with ₹144, for which users can will get make unlimited calls throughout the country, have 2 GB data and send 100 SMSes, giving competition to Reliance Jio.
Initially, only Patanjali employees and office bearers will get the benefits of the SIM card, and after complete roll-out of the SIM cards, customers will get a 10% discount on Patanjali products.
“There are five lakh counters of BSNL and people can soon get Patanjali swadeshi-samradhi cards from there,” Baba Ramdev said, as quoted by ANI.
