Since 12 August – the birthday of Gurmeet Singh – the jail has been flooded with greeting cards addressed to him. The weight of the greeting cards received through ordinary post, speed post and as registered articles has already crossed the one ton mark. His correspondents are mainly from Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

According to the officials at the post office which caters to the jail, over 99 per cent of the postal articles delivered to the jail are addressed to him. A loading auto is used to transport the letters and cards to the jail. As per rules, the letters are read by the jail officials before being delivered to him.
