A for Arjun, B for Brahma: Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham prepares new syllabi for kids

Objective: To help children learn about their culture

Ranchi (Jharkhand): A for Apple, C for Cat and I for Ice-cream is the way children have been learning English alphabets for as long as one can remember. But if the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham has its way, it would soon change.

Vijyendra Saraswathi, the Shankaracharya of the Peetham told Bhaskar over telephone that the Peetham has prepared has prepared a new syllabi for the kids. He said that the objective was to introduce the children to their culture. “Little kids are often oblivious of their rich cultural heritage. Hence we have devised this syllabi. We have chosen characters from the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and the Vedas and the names of Indian mountains and rivers to introduce the children to the world of alphabets,” he said.

Many states interested

Books based on the new syllabi have been published by the Peetham as well as Neeta Prakashan, Delhi and will be introduced in the schools run by the Peetham. He said that the governments of many states, including Jharkhand, have evinced interest in the books.
