India earned two medals in men’s 800 metres race, as Manjit Singh and Jinson Johnson claimed the gold and silver medals respectively in the game at the 18th Asian Games on Tuesday. Manjit clocked 1:46.15 while Johnson clocked 1:46.35 to make it a memorable double for India.
Indian table tennis men’s team settled for historic bronze at the Asian Games 2018 after losing to South Korea 3-0 in the semifinal on the 10th Day of the tournament in Indonesia.
India won their first ever Asian Games medal in table tennis as G Sathiyan, Achanta Sharath Kamal and A Amalraj lost the fight against the mighty Koreans, who will now face defending champions China in a repeat of 2014 edition in the title clash.
Earlier in the day, India acquired the Silver and Bronze medals in women’s singles Badminton through PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal respectively.
Neena Varakil won the silver medal in the women’s long jump event on Monday. Employed with the Western Railway as a ticket checker (TC) in the Rajkot division of the WR, Neena has made her department very proud. “Neena has made the country as well the Rajkot division proud by winning the silver medal in the Asian Games,” PB Ninawe, Division Railway Manager (DRM) of the Rajkot division, said.
India’s current medal count is 49 — Gold: 9, Silver: 18, Bronze: 22.
