’20 bullet injuries on his face and neck’: How AK-47 clad assailants killed Muzaffarpur former mayor

Muzaffarpur: Former Muzaffarpur Mayor Samir Kumar and his driver were shot dead on Sunday night by unidentified assailants in Bihar, police said.

The victims were allegedly attacked using an AK-47 near Banaras Bank Chowk and died at the crime spot.

As per reports, Kumar was travelling back home in a car registered in the name of his wife when a few AK-47 clad unidentifiable assailants, started burst firing at the car incessantly.

‘Assailants had come in a car’

“It is being said that the assailants had come in a car and started firing at Samir Kumar’s SUV, eyewitnesses say that the assailants fired from an AK-47, ”Muzaffarpur DSP Mukul Anand was quoted as saying in media reports.

“Six bullet cartridges have been recovered. It is being suspected that a big weapon was used. The dead bodies have been sent for autopsy examination. Once the reports arrive, the nature of the weapon will be clarified,” he added.

Dreadful murder

As per reports, the vehicle was left perforated after the attack and allegedly, the fact that the face of the deceased former mayor could not be recognised tells how dreadful the murder was.

The former mayor reportedly had suffered more than 20 bullet injuries on his face and neck. The police reached the spot shortly thereafter the incident and further investigation is underway while the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.
